Our Practice

A consultancy built on care and clarity

We help organisations look honestly at how they work with people โ€” and make considered changes that last.

Who We Are

The name behind the work

Tanglewise was formed in Kuala Lumpur with a simple belief: that people decisions deserve the same careful attention as financial or operational ones. Too often, the people side of growing businesses is handled reactively โ€” roles become unclear, hiring happens in a hurry, and staff feel unsupported without anyone intending it.

We work alongside leadership teams to untangle those patterns quietly and thoughtfully. Our name reflects that approach โ€” not cutting through complexity with force, but following it carefully to find what can sensibly change.

Our clients are mostly small and mid-sized Malaysian businesses moving beyond informal arrangements โ€” firms that have grown quickly and want their people practices to catch up, without a heavy bureaucratic overhead.

Our Mission

What guides our work

Fairness in how people are managed

We believe that clear, fair processes benefit everyone โ€” not just management, but the staff who rely on consistent and reasonable treatment.

Candour without harshness

Honest feedback is only useful if it is delivered with care. We share what we find plainly, with respect for the effort already invested.

Ownership stays with the organisation

We inform and support, but we never try to make an organisation dependent on us. Good consulting leaves things more manageable, not more complicated.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Strict confidentiality

Everything shared during an engagement โ€” by leaders, staff or both โ€” is handled with discretion and only used as agreed.

Clear scope in writing

Every engagement is documented before it begins โ€” what is included, what is not, and what you will receive at the end.

Inclusive listening practice

We speak with staff at multiple levels, not just leadership. The people closest to the work often hold the most useful insights.

No pressure in our process

We do not recommend engagements that are not needed, and we do not extend work beyond what the situation warrants.

Data protection compliance

We handle personal data in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and keep records only as long as needed.

Written deliverables included

Our engagements always conclude with written notes or a framework document โ€” something your team can reference and build from.

What We Bring

HR advisory rooted in Malaysian business context

Malaysia's business environment has its own rhythms โ€” multi-generational workforces, a mix of cultural expectations around hierarchy and feedback, and organisations that have often grown faster than their people structures. Tanglewise works within that context rather than against it.

Our consulting draws on direct experience with Malaysian firms across services, technology, manufacturing and professional advisory sectors. We understand that a role structure appropriate for a 20-person team in Petaling Jaya will look different to one suited for a 60-person operation in Shah Alam or a distributed team with offices in multiple states.

We are not a large firm with a standardised toolkit. What we offer is considered, practical advice from consultants who take the time to understand what your organisation actually needs โ€” and who are straightforward with you about what is worth doing and what is not.
